Appleby Westward, the regional distribution company for SPAR in the south west, is launching a new campaign to attract independent convenience store owners to join the company.
The campaign, launched under the banner “Free Reasons To Join SPAR”, will target hundreds of independent store owners throughout the region.
Mailshots and other literature will highlight a number of key free benefits retailers can expect to receive when they join SPAR. These include free fascia, graphics and uniforms, launch advertising worth £1,500, coupled with a free Guild fee for a year providing SPAR membership and a host of benefits including marketing, business support, events and benevolent support.
Other benefits include free SPARPoS, the award winning electronic point-of-sale system for ordering, stock control, reporting and news management, along with free maintenance of the system for a year. Appleby Westward is also offering free payroll administration for a year, including managing National Insurance and income tax.
Simon Warren, Appleby Westward’s Head of Store Recruitment, said: “This is a very attractive range of benefits for independent store owners. As the leading convenience brand in the south west, SPAR is the natural destination for retailers looking to grow their businesses and ensure a prosperous future.
“Appleby Westward operates an industry-leading co-investment scheme to help retailers redevelop and grow their businesses, and the free added benefits we are introducing will help them make their stores become even more profitable.”
Appleby Westward has invested over £10 million in co-investment development schemes with independent SPAR stores throughout the south west in the last five years. “We have a compelling offer to make to independent convenience retailers in the south west,” said Simon. “Appleby Westward set aside £2 million for co-investment development schemes with our retailers this year and will be doing the same in 2012.”
