FUEL COMPETITION SUCCESS FORE STORE

Fuel Vouchers Prove a Winner

A fuel competition held at a Bideford forecourt SPAR store by Premier Foods, in conjunction with Batchelors, has proved popular with customers.

Ten customers won £50 fuel vouchers in the competition, which involved the issuing of raffle tickets to people buying Batchelors Super Noodles or Cup-A-Soup products in the store.

The winners were Mark Hatswell, Emily Mills, Jain Lidet, Fiona Wood, Ken Easterbrook, Mrs Vanstone, Mark Shatlock, Caroline Bowden, Pete Hazard and Denise Platt. Regional Sales Manager Christine Edwards said: “With fuel prices increasing all the time at the moment, the promotion proved extremely popular with the store’s customers.”

Blights Motors invested in the forecourt store just over two years ago when they doubled the size to 1,200 sq. ft. in a redevelopment scheme with Appleby Westward. The company has been based in Bideford for nearly 80 years since it was first established in 1933 by Jack Blight.

It has since run continually through successive generations of the Blight family. “The forecourt originally had a very tiny shop which grew over the years to the modern convenience store it is today,” said Teresa Blight, wife of one of the garage partners, who is actively involved in the running of the forecourt store.
