"The Payroll department not only deal with the on-going payroll processing of the Appleby Westward staff," (says Clare Parkin, Appleby Westward's Payroll Co-ordinator) they also work with a large number of our retailers who outsource their payroll to Appleby Westward'.
Appleby Westward has strengthened its merchandising and store recruitment teams with some new appointments.
Terry Cridlin has reinforced Appleby Westward’s dynamic new store recruitment drive by joining the company’s new business team.
And Rebecca Tremain and Kimberley Noakes have both been appointed as merchandisers in a bid to help store owners drive their retail sales.
Terry joined Appleby Westward in 2010 after working for Cossey Produce, the West Country-based fruit and vegetable suppliers. He has been working for Appleby Westward’s produce department in a quality control role since joining.
Simon Warren, Head of Store Recruitment, said: “I am delighted Terry has joined our team. He is very well known, not just among SPAR Retailers but also by other Retailers where he has lots of contacts. He will bring strength to our team.”
Terry will focus on new business in a territory throughout Somerset and Bristol, with Dave Slade looking after Devon and Cornwall and Simon covering the east of the territory.
Store recruitment is ahead of schedule this year, with 11 new stores already open by June. “We’ve brought recruitment to the forefront once more and success breeds success,” said Simon. “With the strength of the SPAR brand, our impressive co-investment package and our ‘Free Reasons To Join SPAR’ initiative, we have a compelling offer to make to independent convenience retailers in the South West to help them maximise the potential of their stores.”
In merchandising, the appointments of Rebecca and Kimberley are part of an effort to drive retail sales by maximising the use of the space each store has in conjunction with implementing planograms to get the right range into stores at the same time.
Sales and Marketing Director Nick Kenworthy said: “Many of our stores have not reviewed the space they have for certain categories, or the range within that space, for some considerable time.
“By having two additional merchandisers, we are able to have a dedicated team that can visit a store and, along with RSM support, will completely review the macro space and micro space throughout. They can then relay the space according to planograms and increase sales and margin for Retailers as a result of them having the right space and stocking the right range within it.”
