QUEENS GARAGE RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER CHARITY

Store Raise Over £1500 For Cancer Research UK

Staff at a Cornish garage and SPAR forecourt store have raised £1,528.37 for Cancer Research UK following a special fundraising day.

The event, held at Queens Garage in Indian Queens, was the company’s first major fundraising event for Cancer Research UK and the store was delighted with the result.

The Mitchell family told Your SPAR: “We were hoping to raise £1,000 so we’re really pleased we’ve managed to exceed this. We had great support from the local community and the day was made even better with the weather being on our side.”

Volunteers from the charity ran the barbecue and refreshments, there were side stalls, a display of classic vintage, veteran and Ford RS cars and motorcycles and a bumper raffle was held with prize donations from customers, local businesses and Appleby Westward.

Val Hawken, a 70 year old member of the Newquay Road Runners and a veteran of nearly 20 marathons during which she has raised almost £250,000 for Cancer Research UK, attended with the Olympic torch.
