Appleby Westward Group monitors and assesses the level of security applied to our premises and IT systems. To ensure an adequate level of security we consider the nature, scope, context and purposes of our processing activities and the risks to the individual’s privacy.
We maintain appropriate administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information provided to us against accidental, unlawful or unauthorised destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use. Our technical and organisational measures include: secure user authentication protocols; user access control measures; automated monitoring of systems to detect unauthorised use of or access to personal data; secure storage of data; and education and awareness training of employees on the proper use of computer security systems and the importance of personal data protection.
How long does Appleby Westward Group retain personal information?
Personal data will be retained where there is a legitimate business or legal need to do so. This includes compliance with our legal requirements, dispute resolution, enforcement of our agreements, and for other lawful business purposes.
Once the business and legal needs have expired, we securely dispose of, delete or anonymise personal information.
How can I find out what information Appleby Westward Group hold about me?
Any request must be submitted by an individual either electronically or in writing and should be accompanied by information that confirms the individual’s identity before we take action to comply with your request. You can do this by providing a copy of your passport or photo card driving licence. The request and accompanying detail should be sent to the DPO as detailed below.
We will provide the requested information within one month of receipt of the original request. However, where the request is complex or numerous, we may extend the period of compliance by a further two months, and you will be advised of this accordingly.
For requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive, we will charge a reasonable fee, taking into account administrative costs incurred, or refuse to respond but you will be advised of this accordingly within one month. You have the right to complain to a supervisory authority such as the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
Upon receipt of the data you may request to have your personal data rectified, particularly if it is inaccurate or incomplete. Where there is no compelling reason for data’s continued processing, you can request deletion or removal. You also have the right to request “blocking or suppressing” processing of personal data.
